The Omega Centauri Project
864 Words Artist Statement

What happens when different emotions are thrown together by random chance?

This project was developed from a sudden inspiration that presented itself as a complete auditory image: emotional fragments in orbit, meeting each other at random.

This irrational inspiration came during a visit to the Pyramids of Giza in 2002, while looking at the apex stones pointing towards the sky. This in turn led me to pursue two lines of research in the development: the content of the fragments, and a celestial body to act as a model for their movements.

The project combines many of my drives: our vulnerability, the interactions of our emotions, and the resulting intimacy every single voice reveals. It incorporates what I have always felt to be the maternal embrace of the cosmos, and the pursuit of understanding how we got here. The cosmos, after all, is where we came from, and where we will return.
