The project consists of three experimental films produced and directed by Christine Vandemoortele.
‘CONVERSATION IS NOT COMPULSORY’, ‘HAVE I SPOKEN OUT OF TURN?’ and ‘WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY’ are all the result of collaborations with stellar astrophysicist, Professor Francesco R. Ferraro, composer, Alejandro Viñao and film editor, Daniel Goddard.
The 3 films were completed in 2010 and each one is approximately 30 minutes long.
“Everything we see in our world was made in stars, with the exception of hydrogen and helium, which was made when the Universe was less than three minutes old.
So we are indeed both stardust and the nuclear waste of stellar evolution.”
STELLAR EVOLUTION Robin Catchpole.
“...the tiny, innumerable, fleeting psychological reactions which lie beneath the surface of our formulated words, emotions and thoughts.”
INTRODUCTION TO NATALIE SAURRAUTE'S TROPISMES Sheila Bell.
“Every molecule in our bodies contains matter that once was subjected to the tremendous temperatures and pressures at the centre of a star. That is where the iron in our red blood cells originated. The oxygen we breathe, the carbon and nitrogen in our tissues and the calcium in our bones also were formed through the fusion of smaller atoms at the centre of a star.”
ASTROPHYSICAL CONCEPTS Martin Harwit.
